Course Materials

Items which you may need to finance while being a student include books, a laptop / computer (optional), course-related equipment, materials and visits.

Each programme of study varies in relation to what additional materials or equipment will be needed. Please contact your Programme Coordinator for further details on costs related to your course.

University Computer Suites

It is not essential to own a computer as the University provides 24 hour computer suites during term time. There is also a facility to borrow laptops from the Learning Resource Centres on both the Carmarthen and Lampeter campuses.

Buying a computer

Most students wish to own their own computer - if this is the case, there are several ways in which you can purchase a desktop or a laptop via online or high street providers. Laptops can be bought second hand from about £179 upwards. If you are looking to buy an Apple Mac computer, costs start at £849.

Books

The cost of books will vary and we suggest you speak to fellow students who may have already taken the course and know which books are needed.

You can pick up some great deals on new and second hand books online at amazon.co.uk and abebooks.ac.uk and still get a further 5% discount with your NUS Card.

University Libraries

The Learning Resource Centres offer a wide range of books related to University courses. Computer facilities, information skills support and print and copy services are also available.
