Car or Motorbike
Using a car or motorbike to travel to the University of Wales Trinity Saint David can be costly. Please bear in mind that your student funding allowance will not cover excess costs such as:
- Car / motorbike insurance
- Petrol / diesel
- Road tax
Car parking permits are currently free of charge for residential students. You will need to apply for a parking permit (available from the Estates and Facilities Department). Please note: car parking permits need to be renewed each year.
Parking in the Carmarthen and Lampeter Areas
Car parking charges will vary depending on where you are parking. Local authority owned car parks will charge e.g. the Pentremeurig car park at Carmarthen currently charges 50p for 5 hours - £1 all day).
There are free spaces available in both the Carmarthen and Lampeter areas. The multi-storey car park in Carmarthen town charges from £1.40 upwards depending on how long you stay. Please make sure you check the charges before parking.
Not paying when a fee is requested can lead to being clamped or fined.
In Carmarthen, Morris Travel and Ffoshelig Coach Travel operate a service from the town centre to the University. There are two services, (numbers 226 and 228). A single trip will cost students 60p and a return £1.10. A 12 trip ticket costs £4.40.

In Lampeter, the X40 service links Lampeter with Cardiff, via Carmarthen in the south and with Aberystwyth to the north

Train fares will depend on the journey the student is taking. Examples of basic single train fares would be:
Carmarthen to Swansea - £8.10
Carmarthen to Cardiff - £16.70
Carmarthen to London - £42.00
Students can also purchase a railcard for £28 per year which will give them a third off rail fares.
This is available to both:
- 16-25 year olds
- Those over 26 years of age in full-time education
