New Teaching & Learning building

The new Teaching & Learning building for the Carmarthen campus of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David is being designed as an iconic building to meet the future education needs of the University and will provide modern and updated facilities for students and staff of the University.

Learning and Teaching Building

The building will also provide the opportunity to further enhance the partnership agreements with other educational establishments and for community events.

The building is formed in 2 wings, the first at a height of 3 storeys and the other to be 2 storeys high.

The building will ensure

  • Spatial flexibility
  • Creative and inspiring interiors
  • Furniture technologies
  • Information technologies
  • Healthy environments – promoting well being
  • Holistic environmental and sustainable design

Learning and Teaching Building

To ensure best use of the interior of the building, the concept will incorporate study zones. This will be identified and allocated by a clear thoroughfare with connections to structured and unstructured learning environments. As well as this, formal and informal study spaces to encourage group learning with or without technology will be provided, which will extend the learning experience from teaching spaces into social zones.

Work will start on site on the 4th July with the new building due to be completed and handed over to the University in August 2012
