English Language Programmes

Sisters Dafne and denisse Diaz English language courses are designed for international students whose English language abilities mean that extra study is required before starting undergraduate or postgraduate degrees at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

The options below are offered on the Lampeter campus of the University.  The programmes qualify students for progression to degree programmes at either the Carmarthen or Lampeter campuses of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

Pre-sessional English Course

If you have an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6 or less and wish to improve your English before starting a degree, this is an intensive, course held in August – September. You will receive intensive coaching in English, with an emphasis on the reading, writing, and note-taking skills that you will need for a degree programme, as well as join in with trips, orientation, and cultural events. Students who attend this programme will receive on-going language support during the academic year.

This course is offered on the Lampeter campus of the University.  The course qualifies students for progression to degree programmes at either the Carmarthen or Lampeter campuses of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

Diploma in English for Academic Purposes (DEAP)

This flexible programme offers a pathway for non- English speaking students into the portfolio of taught and research postgraduate degrees offered at Lampeter. The year long course helps you to develop your language and academic skills whilst enabling you to take subject-specific modules to help you to prepare for your postgraduate programme.

This course is offered on the Lampeter campus of the University. The Diploma qualifies students for progression to postgraduate degree programmes at either the Carmarthen or Lampeter campuses of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

Ongoing English Language Support

The University offers international students support with the English language throughout their degree on either the Carmarthen or Lampeter campus. This support comprises language classes and individual sessions that focus on the areas in which help is needed. Classes are designed to suit individual needs but could, for example, focus on academic writing skills or the spoken language.
