11.01.2012

Nikki Shaw, an MA student with the department of Archeology, History and Anthropology, is to co-convene the first ever postgraduate Critical Perspectives on Animals in Society (CPAS) conference.

Nikki Shaw This exciting event, to be held in Exeter in March of this year, will bring together postgraduate students researching in the areas of human-animal relations, critical animal studies and anthrozoology as well as activists, campaigning organisations and interested members of the public.

The aim of the conference is to stimulate lively debate on the complex and often fraught relationships between humans and non-human animals.

Nikki, a Registered Veterinary Nurse who studies anthrozoology distance learning with the university said of the conference:

"I am hugely proud to be involved in co-organising this conference with four other postgrads working in this emerging discipline and to represent student endeavour from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.  Anthrozoology is a new and exciting field and I hope to educate others about the University's academic and student research in this area."

Registration for the conference is free and lunch refreshments and evening entertainment will be provided.
