Trinity Saint David named one of the safest universities for students in Wales and England
19.06.2012
The Complete University Guide has named the University of Wales Trinity Saint David as one of the safest universities for students in Wales and England. Compiled from official police data, the ranking gives the clearest picture possible of the crime rates for 103 universities in Wales and England.
For the first time, this year The Guide publishes crime figures for all universities in Wales and England. In past years it has focused on cities with two or more universities. Its ranking is based on the cumulative rate of crimes most relevant to students: burglary, robbery and assault.
Dai Rogers, Director of Student Services at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, commented:
‘We very much welcome this news as the safety and wellbeing of all our students on and off campus is of paramount importance. The safety of the campus environment in both Carmarthen and Lampeter benefits from our close collaboration with our community police officers and in the excellent work of the Students' Union and our student welfare team. We pride ourselves on the safe and welcoming environment which students enjoy at this University.’
Bernard Kingston, founder of The Complete University Guide, added:
‘While the quality of tuition and the prospects for employment after graduation are key elements in choosing a university course, it is important not to overlook other aspects of the environment in which the student will be living for three or more years.’
