From Herbals to Floras: The Illustrated Botanical Works in the Roderic Bowen Library and Archives
Among the many treasures of the Roderic Bowen Library and Archives is its collection of illustrated herbals and floras, described by Willam Condry in Trivium 29 & 30. This exhibition is based on Condry's survey.
The plate shown here is called Tulips and appears in Dr. Robert John Thornton's Temple of Flora (London, 1807), widely regarded as the most sumptuous flower book ever produced.
