Research and development... we mean business!
The University is committed to research that contributes to the economic vitality and regeneration of the region and is developing a reputation for working collaboratively with business, industry, government and other partners.
In developing research projects, our academic community is encouraged to demonstrate the benefits of their work to the economy, society, public policy, culture and quality of life. That the University's research has impact on our wider society is a fundamental principle underpinning our research strategy.
To achieve this goal, mechanisms for knowledge transfer are built into project objectives. Taking many forms, this knowledge transfer may include dissemination to peers, engagement of the public, support to government and industry, and the commercialisation of our intellectual property.
