Our history and archaeology programmes explore the human experience in its fullness. Dealing with the fundamental issues and cutting-edge concepts, describing past societies.

Our wide range of programmes from Archaeology to History and War and Society will give you the opportunity to study global history from antiquity to the present day.

We provide a fascinating array of modules, with both single and joint honours options, offering a flexible and exciting way to study through our innovative and immersive teaching system.  Our approach will allow you to shape your studies to suit you as an individual, complement your interests, academic strengths, and future aspirations.

Based on our beautiful Lampeter campus our programmes offer an inclusive, campus-based experience and learning environment with a hands-on approach. Distance options are also available, please see programme pages for details.

Our innovative and immersive teaching approach consists of block teaching, small groups seminars and one-to-one tutorials. It allows you to gain a full understanding of the concepts you engage with.

Block teaching (link below), studying one module at time, allows you to fully immerse yourself in the current topic whilst working collaboratively with your peers from other disciplines across humanities. This unique approach helps you to explore ideas and concept from multiple perspectives.

With an emphasis on heritage our programmes explore the past in relation to the present. We highlight the relevance of history in today’s world and the importance of heritage for the future. Linking history and heritage to industry, conservation and the environment allows our students to learn valuable intellectual and transferable skills.

Teaching is rooted in the professional interests and expertise of the lecturers with a strong research ethos. As a student you will benefit from research active teaching staff (link below) and regular guest speakers.

During your studies, you will have the opportunity to be involved in the annual posters in parliament a national competition showcasing and celebrating undergraduate research.

Testimonial

“All the lecturers are amazing! They always answer my questions and are really supportive. The Student Support staff and services are great. Throughout my time at Lampeter, I have had at least 1 hour a week of study support and that has helped me learn so much about how I work best, what my strengths and recognise and work on my weaknesses in a supportive environment.”
